1970 Alfa Romeo 2000 GTAm
AR 1530037 According to our research, in co-operation with GTAM expert and author Mauro Tabucchi, this authentic GTAm was one of the many cars that were produced as 1750 GT Veloce America’s and then later converted by AutoDelta into full GTAm racing-cars. This particular car was bought in 1973 by Swiss privateer Jean-Pierre Rochat and he took the car to AutoDelta in 1974 to have it officially converted into a full-race GTAm to correct specifications and with all the correct parts. The 1974 AutoDelta invoice specifies a.o. work on injection, radiator and rear-suspension and delivery of a 2 litre race-GTAm engine and race-seats. Mr. Rochat then raced this car during 1974 and 1975 at various race-tracks, such as Circuito di Casale in Italy, Romont Hillclimb in Switzerland and at Hockenheim in Germany in the 2-litre class. In 1976 Mr. Rochat sold this car to somebody from Bern who took the car to America for racing purposes. Later the car ended up with a Mr. Jochen Arden in Germany. In 1993 Mr. Arden decided to sell this GTAm to a Dutch Ferrari and Alfa collector. Before this man bought the GTAm he had it inspected by German Alfa Romeo specialist Hähn, who is the owner of the first GTAm of the series, car AR*1530001*, which he used to compare with this GTAm. Mr. Hähn has then confirmed in writing that this GTAm was in excellent condition and correct in every detail in comparison to his own car. After 1530037 had been bought it was raced for a few years with a non-matching Alfa 2 litre engine. A genuine GTAm Balduzzi engine was kept in storage with the car. After a few years it was decided to sell again to another Dutch collector who kept the car cosmetically in original condition but had all the mechanics completely redone. He had the car prepared with 100 Litre tank, new FIA seat, extinguisher and belts. Presently the car is in very good racing-condition, with a full-race type 105 engine fitted. The 2 litre GTAm Balduzzi engine ( no. AR00548*G6522) has just been completely rebuilt and will be included, but not fitted into the car. That engine has Webers but the original Spica injection unit is of course included. The car has one set of original magnesium wheels and one set of aluminium wheels. This GTAm is now in race-ready condition, including a new 2008 FIA-HTP in which the car is classified in Period G2 (1970 to 1971) with FIA Class CT19 ! Eligible for Master Series, FIA GT-TC, Jim Clark Revival, ADAC GT-TC, Young Timers etc. As the car is road-registered it is also useable in Tour Auto, Tour Espana etc. Price: on request.
